We are having lots of fun this year.

 English

We learn about punctuation, adjectives, nouns, verbs and adverbs. We read novels in class and easy reads at home. Our teacher reads different novels to us. We use different forms of writing for different purposes. We do a lot of talking and listening especially in our Dissolving Boundaries Project.

 Maths

We will be learning all the times-tables , lots of mental maths, adding, subtracting, multiplying  dividing, fractions, decimals, all forms of measurements and shape and space. We love to play computer games at school and at home.

The World Around Us  (Science, History and Geography)

We will be looking at some very interesting and valuable elements of science like healthy eating, materials and recycling. We will be exploring the areas of Titanic, Romans and the Ancient Egyptians.We will be looking at different types of maps and how to take information from them, use co-ordinates and grid referencing, investigate weather and rivers.

Physical Education

We get to go to the Lisburn Leisureplex to participate in swimming lessons for the first term. We experience games, gymnastics, dance and athletics. All this exercise is really good for us.

 Music

We use the music programme “Music Express” and Mrs Gray will teach us how to play the recorder.

Art

Everyone loves this subject and our teachers have promised us loads this year. They even say they'll get the clay out! We are going to swap monster paintings with our friends in Limerick, make Egyptian jewellery and build Titanic models.

 I.C.T.

We are part of a Dissolving Boundaries Project which links us to a school in Limerick through ICT. We will be conferencing, video conferencing, learning to use power point and producing web pages. Can you believe it?

Religion

We look at Beginnings and Endings, events in the life of Jesus and Moses,  the Ten Commandments and the role of Mary in the life of Jesus. We take part in Assemblies throughout the year.

Personal Development

We will learn about healthy lifestyles, personal safety, exploring relationships and different cultures.

Foreign Languages

We will be learning some Spanish – greetings, colours, number and general vocabulary.
