Welcome to  Primary Four!

We are working very hard this year, learning lots of new concepts.

Literacy

We start to learn about nouns, verbs and adjectives and our creative writing is a delight to read. We are now reading short novels and our class novels provide us with great opportunities to explore a wide range of writing styles. We are all members of the wonderful Lisburn library.

Numeracy

We will soon be learning our times tables and by the end of the school year we will be able to subtract and add up to 999. We also take part in wide range of mathematical investigations and our mental arithmetic is constantly challenged. We enjoy taking our travelling books home.

W.A.U

Through our science investigations, research and field trips we are able to explore the following topics; Ourselves, Light, Environment and Materials.

Through our History programme we are able to discover interesting facts about Life during World War Two- we will also get to visit Castle Ward and get the opportunity to pretend to be evacuees for the day. Then we move on the 60’s and this is where we find out about the people who helped to make history.

Watch out! We are training to become architects, as we learn how to draw view plans. We even get to design our dream bedroom! Throughout the year we investigate the different occupations which make up our local community, learning about the differences / similarities in the town and country, the lifestyles of animals from hot and cold lands.

Music

We follow the music programme ‘ Music Express’ and we also get to learn how to play the recorder and a range of percussion instruments.

Art

We really enjoy this part of the day- having fun exploring art. At the start of the year we all draw our own self portraits and later in the year we will making clay models of animals from hot and cold lands.

Physical Education

We love being active in Primary Four and through our P.E. programme we experience games, athletics, gymnastics and dance. We appreciate the need for fair play and co-operation and enjoy getting fit and healthy. Kevin comes once a week for Gaelic training.

I.C.T

We have a wonderful computer suite and this year we have access to the World Wide Web to help our research techniques. We have a wide range of computer programs to help reinforce our learning and assist in the presentation of our work.

Religion

This is a very important year for us, as we get to make our First Holy Communion, on Sunday 27th May 2012. We are very excited about this special event and together with our parents we will work hard to help us prepare for this.

In Primary Four we live, love and learn in a caring Catholic community.
