   St Aloysius Eco Warriors 2011 - 2012

At St Aloysius Primary school our enthusiatic Eco Council work hard to ensure our school community is a greener and healthier environment to learn in.  Our Eco Warriors have many responsibilities to raise awareness about environmental issues.  These include:
  • emptying class paper bins
  • litter picking around the school grounds
  • switching off lights and computers
  • maintaining our garden area
  • monitoring the Cash for Clobber bin

We have participated in a variety of initiatives including Belfast Telegraph's Big Spring Clean and Translink's Educational Challenge 2011.  We were overall winners in our category.

Even the younger children enjoy the opportunity to get involved.  The picture below shows the children looking for worms for our compost bin.

Our hard work and commitment has been recognised by achieving our Bronze and Silver eco Schools Award.  We are now focused on achieving our Green Flag status by continuing to promote our eco friendly motto in a fun and positive way.  We are currently holding a competition to design a logo for our Eco council.
