Comenius: Celebrating and developing Mathematics. Our partnership with schools in Denmark , Italy and Poland has been huge success to date. Our first year has seen the partners sharing and developing elements of Mathematics in each of our schools. Year 1 September 2010-June 2011. Achievements: - Ensuring practical maths is central in each maths lesson.
- Scrap book – Each class kept a visual record of the year’s work in practical maths. Children could then could look back at the activities they had completed with their friends and teacher.
- Calendar- a collaborative piece which incorporated images of work from each of our partner schools as a celebration of the year’s work.
Next stage- Year 2 September 2011-June 2012 Focus for this year is the Travelling Book. Every class will start to generate a book that will “Travel home” with each child in the class during the course of the year. The idea is to engage with you our parents in supporting your child in fun/practical maths activities or investigations - relevant to every day life. This will then be recorded in the travelling book and brought back and shared with the class in school. Good luck with all your mathematical adventures!
